Mr. James Edward Burnette, age 80 of Chapel Hill, NC transitioned to eternal rest Wednesday, March 13, 2024, at Parkview Health and Rehabilitation in Chapel Hill, NC.
The Obituary
James Edward Burnette, the son of the late Samuel and Luella Wynn Burnette, was born in Chatham County on July 31, 1943. He departed into eternal rest on March 13, 2024, at Parkview Rehabilitation Center in Chapel Hill.
James was educated at Horton High School in Pittsboro, NC. He was previously employed by the University of North Carolina’s ground crew, Ratskeller and Ms. Danziger. He loved fishing and singing. He was also a funny man and never met a stranger.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Sheila Delores Burnette; a son, David E. Burnette; his parents, Samuel E., and Luella Wynn Burnette; one grandson and two brothers.
He leaves to cherish his memories, three sons, Ronnell R. Burnette, Barry L. Brunette (Annette), and Kenneth E. Burnette (Bernadette); a stepson, John Travis Crisp; one daughter, Belinda A. Burnette and a stepdaughter, Amanda VanHook; three brothers, Thomas E. Burnette (Susan) of Pittsboro, NC, Douglas E. Burnette (Charlene) of Durham, NC and Rev. Stanley V. Burnette (LaVerne) of Moncure, NC; two sisters, Annie D. Edwards (Bobby) of Mebane, NC and Lucile Patterson of Chapel Hill, NC; sister-in-law, Maggie Burnette of Durham, NC; three aunts, Ella M. Farrar of Brooklyn, NY, Marjorie B. James of Durham, NC; and Carol B. Stewart of Pittsboro, NC and a host of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
